Review - Breaking the Rules
If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with this reminder from Matthew 19:26 “...with God all things are possible.”
This week’s review is for the short documentary, Breaking the Rules.
Description
Mark van Rensburg is a self-made businessman with two companies, a commercial fishing boat and many medals and awards as a judo champion. His aggressive approach towards life, however, was fueled by a deep anger towards God. A turning point came when he was tragically paralyzed from the neck down as the result of an auto accident. Doctors were surprised he survived at all and gave him less than six months to live. But Mark, as strong-willed as ever, vowed he would walk again.
Review
This documentary really spoke to me, as it shows how fragile our bodies are. I recently reflected on someone’s post on social media, who was showing off their physique. I remember thinking that our bodies can look strong, but can become limp and refuse to function in the unfortunate event of a serious accident. We are just flesh and bone and at times, we fool ourselves by how much weight we can lift, or how toned our bodies are.
What I like most about this documentary is Mark’s testimony directed towards giving God the glory. I won’t give away too much, as the details to this inspirational film should be seen first hand.
This film was less than half an hour, but it had so much detail and so much to ponder about and of course, encourages us to trust the Lord with our lives.
