If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the passion to follow Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

This week’s review is for the series, Christianity Explored.  Episode: Come and Die

Description

Christianity Explored is a ten-week course that introduces people to Christianity using the Gospel of Mark as its basis. Written by Rico Tice and Barry Cooper and originally run as a course at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London -- where it is still in use -- this widely-used course aims to introduce people to Jesus as they read the gospel of Mark -- who he is, why he came and what it means to follow him.

We’ve come to the last episode in this series.  In this final episode, Rico asks some important questions about how we think of Jesus when we read about Him in the Bible.  A thought just struck me - some people have an opinion about Jesus without ever having read about Him in the Bible.  Their knowledge is based on what they have heard from family, friends,  read in various types of media, or seen in films, programs, etc.

Rico wants to get across that our understanding of Jesus Christ can be very misguided if we don’t read scripture and understand who Jesus really is and what His purpose is.

Rico references Mark 8:27-29, when Jesus was asking His disciples who people say He is.  Rico turns the question on us - who do we say Jesus is?

Rico uses Mark 8:17-38, to take us on a journey of why Jesus came and how we should respond when we think about Him or are asked about Him. And what does it mean to follow Jesus? Are we willing to choose Jesus above anything else?

Rico mentions that we might have to give up family, friends, careers, comfort and even our lives. This can be backed up by scripture (Mark 8:34-38, Matthew 19:29).  There are many places in the Bible that explain what it will take to follow Jesus.

I reality appreciate how Rico does not beat around the bush - it costs to follow Jesus, but the reward is priceless.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of Christianity Explored.  I hope you will too.  I look forward to bringing you more reviews from their ministry, in the future, God willing.

There is Christian media out there that honours the Word of God - you just have to make a determined effort to pick and choose. RFM reviews are based on the films that have focus on the Bible and the Christian values we are supposed to live by, by God's grace.
