Film Review - Brokenness

If you are reading this on the Sabbath, then I would like to invite you in joining me in giving thanks for the precious hope we have through Jesus Christ.

This week’s review is for the short film, Brokenness.

Description

This International Media Ministries short focuses on brokenness.

The description is simple, and the short film is just under five minutes, yet it is filled with depth about the message of the gospel.  The message is concise, containing significant statements about the traps we find ourselves in, in this sinful world.  One statement that caught my attention was,  “Unresolved pain never goes away.”  At first glance, it might be dismissed with a “Yes, we know that.”  However, it doesn’t take long before we deeply reflect on how people try to hide their unresolved pain in many ways, ways that lead them away from God.   This short film talks about paralyzing pain, lives in shattered pieces and the attempts to mask the rubble.  It talks about the choice to try and write our own script or give Jesus ownership of our lives.  I was reminded of the verse from Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.

In the short time it runs, the short film, Brokenness, is able to effectively point to the One who gives life, light, in the darkness and complete healing - Jesus Christ.
