If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with humility towards God.
This week’s review is for the six-part documentary series - The Incredible Journey - Daniel, hosted by Gary Kent. These episodes are so detailed, that I will bring you a review for one episode at a time.
Description
Episode 5 - The Writing on the Wall
Daniel! The very name of this superhero of God brings vivid images to our minds. Dreams of world empires, golden statues, fiery furnaces, lions' dens, horns, beasts, powerful angels delivering mysterious end-time prophecies, the rise and fall of world empires through the corridors of time – few people have seen more action packed into one lifetime than Daniel. In this program, we look at the life and times of Daniel and consider the special message he has for us.
Gary Kent does another great job of relaying scripture and historical information about the amazing life of Daniel and the fall of the Babylonian kingdom.
We are also shown how the events of King Belshazzar’s life are in stark contrast to Daniel’s loyalty to the God of the universe, who is King Belshazzar’s creator too. However, the king chose to reject God, even after knowing how his grandfather, King Nebuchadnezzar, had been humbled before God.
Gary references the chilling accounts of the handwriting on the wall described in Daniel 5: 24:-28, that relay God’s judgement on the king and the Babylonian kingdom.
I am reminded of a verse from the Bible, Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
Gary Kent reminds us that God sees everything. Matthew 12:34-37, says that we are held accountable for everything we say, in the day of judgement. However, 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Episode five brings us the powerful message of God’s divinity, sovereignty and mercy - with an importance reminder: Today is the day to turn to God, through faith in Jesus Christ, as tomorrow might be too late.
Episode five is based on chapter five in the Book of Daniel.
I am looking forward to bringing you the last episode of the series, next Sabbath.
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time, peace be with you.
