If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the reassurance that we have full access to God’s grace, through Jesus Christ - the only mediator between God and man.
This week’s review is for the series, Christianity Explored. Episode: Grace
Description
Christianity Explored is a ten-week course that introduces people to Christianity using the Gospel of Mark as its basis. Written by Rico Tice and Barry Cooper and originally run as a course at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London -- where it is still in use -- this widely-used course aims to introduce people to Jesus as they read the gospel of Mark -- who he is, why he came and what it means to follow him.
This episode is focused on the free gift God has offered us, through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Rico takes us to the account of a young ruler in Mark chapter 10:17-27, to set the stage for how we should approach Jesus. Rico refers to key verses in Mark that tell us about the state of our hearts, independent of Jesus, in addition to his own analogy, which refers to how we try to hide who we really are.
I really liked how Rico reflected on how the children came to Jesus in Mark 10:13-16 and how faith in Jesus has made it possible for us to have full access to God’s grace.
I am reminded of my daily Bible verse for today from Proverbs 21:21, which says: Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
Rico warns us, through scripture, about pursuing righteousness based on what we say, do, have achieved, know, possess, etc. I like how he points out that, “we are more sinful than we ever realized and more loved than we ever dreamed.”
This episode is a wonderful reminder of who we really are, and who we need to rely on, in order to spend an eternity with God in His future kingdom.
I will leave you with a Bible verse Rico referenced towards the end and hope you will be blessed by this episode.
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 1 Corinthians 5:21. Thank you, Jesus!
