If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath full of acceptance of God’s generosity.
This week’s review is for the series, Life Explored, which is a seven part series. The episode is called, The Generous God.
Description
An exposé of the little gods that promise us so much happiness, yet deliver so little. As it explores the Bible story (creation, fall, redemption, new creation), Life Explored shows how our deepest desires for happiness can only be satisfied in one person, Jesus Christ. The best gift God can give us is himself.
This is the third episode in this series and if I didn’t mention it before, each episode starts with a short film. This episode’s short film was quite powerful to me. It was a very good depiction of the pitfalls of trusting in man-made things, and not our Saviour, Jesus Christ and His Father, God Almighty, who is faithful and generous beyond what we can imagine.
The presenter in this episode has a focus on the law - the 10 commandments and discusses whether they are considered promises or demands. He gives us some good examples of God’s unfailing promises.
The worship of money is discussed, as it was the example in the short film at the beginning. It made me think of a recent daily Bible verse on my Bible app, from Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
The presenter really hit home what we are saying no to, when we accept idols over God and the free gift, He has offered us in Jesus Christ. We are essentially saying no to life.
This is another must see episode.
I watched, Life Explored: Episode - The Generous God on redeemtv.com.
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time - peace be with you.
