The Heavens Declare: Part 5 (Our Incredible Sun)
This week’s review is for the program, “The Heavens Declare: Part 5, Our Incredible Sun,” which is Created, Hosted, & Produced by Kyle Justice from Awesome Science Media. Featured Experts: Dr. Danny Faulkner, Dr. Jason Lisle, Dr. Russ Humphreys, Dr. Don DeYoung and Spike Psarris
The experts explore how the sun is such an important part of our lives giving strong evidence of it being created.
The experts explore the various ideas of the sun’s origin, how the sun provides life to the earth, how we are protected from sun flares and radiation, how the sun produces energy, and why it shows such love from our Creator.
This episode contains staggering facts about the sun. It’s jam packed with simple to complicated concepts. One incredible fact I have to share with you: The sun puts out more energy per second than a billion major cities put out in a year. I still can’t wrap my mind around that fact. What an amazing and powerful Creator we have!
The episode contains wonderful images of the sun - it’s truly beautiful. We see it every single day and yet hardly think about how much function and protection our Heavenly Father has given us, in the sun.
There is no doubt that this well designed universe was created and made unique for us, God’s beloved creation.
I really like how the episode draws a parallel between the sun and the characteristics of our Creator - God. Watch the episode for this glorious comparison.
One of the experts says, the sun has a controlled fury. What is basically a large nuclear bomb, is kept completely stable, by God, for our benefit. It reminds me of Romans 6:23 that tells us what we actually deserve for our sin, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” God withheld his fury, promising never to wipe out humanity again, like in the days of Noah.
9 “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
So we are very clear where the rainbow originates from and its true meaning. Its meaning is pure - coming from God, as a sign of His love for humanity. It’s a token of His covenant for His creation. I think of that every time I see a rainbow in the sky and thank God for His mercy.
So instead of His creation facing an eternity without Him, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to pay the cost of our sins, so that we could be reconciled with God and be given the gift of eternal life.
The Heavens Declare series makes me think of how we will have access to all the amazing things God has created for us, for an eternity. As Revelation 22:20 says, “20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
