Review
I love the statement by Dr. Jason Lisle, “ We are not alone in the universe - we have God.” I am reminded of some bible verses that reassure us that we are not alone.
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Psalms 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Psalm 46:7 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 91:2 I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’
So - we are certainly not alone
Episode 12 has the following questions
Why all the interest in aliens?
Does the Bible allow for aliens?
Look at creation account and what the earth was designed for (Genesis 1 & 2 - and in the rest of scripture)
Jesus’ role as a Saviour
What are the theological challenges for belief in aliens?
The whole creation groans due to sin (Romans 8). Only one curse, mentioned, through Adam.
Creation was redeemed, due to sin, by Jesus, who died only once, for creation - man, who was made in the image of God (Romans 5:12)
What is the real foundation for alien research?
If there was intelligent life - who made it and what about their redemption? This question points away from God as the Creator of all things - brings in evolution, which rejects God.
What is the Fermi paradox?
If life evolved on earth (and elsewhere), then where are they?
Drake equation and SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). These systems have come up with nothing, for more than half a century. No life has been discovered outside of earth.
What about UFOs?
Are UFO sightings/abductions real?
What could be Satan’s role in all of this? Dr. Russ Humphrey’s references 2 Thess 2: - Deception in the last days
What’s the message of the people behind these abductions - seems to be anti Christ.
Could aliens have seeded ancient technology?
Misinformation about how intelligent our ancestors were - who were made in the image of God.
What were Adam and Eve like?
What is the impact of the belief in aliens?
Denial of God
What is the point of the universe without the God of the Bible?
What is the motive of people looking for aliens?
What does it mean to reject God?
What is the difference between nature and the Word of God, the Bible?
Kyle Justice ends the series referencing
Romans 6:23, in regards to the death sentence we had and Jesus’ role as the Messiah.
1 Cor 1:30: Our redemption through Jesus Christ
Nehemiah 9:6 - God the Creator of all things
I have thoroughly enjoyed both watching and reviewing, The Heavens Declare,# and it won’t stop there. Each time I watch it there is something new to learn, so I will be watching the whole series again very soon.
