If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled with the belief that God is always with you.
This week’s review is for the last episode of the six-part documentary series - The Incredible Journey - Daniel, hosted by Gary Kent.
Description
Episode 6 -Surviving the Lion’s Den
There are many heroes in the Bible. Some are great warriors. But others are men of quiet faith – men who display their courage, not on the battlefield, but simply by their faithfulness to God. Daniel is such a man. In this program, we're going to consider his experience in the lions' den. This is an inspiring story about courage and bravery, but most of all, about true faithfulness, about faith in God through all things.
Like his friends, Daniel was willing to face death in order to remain faithful to God and in return, God was faithful to him.
Gary Kent leads us through an amazing chapter, where the focus is fixing our eyes on God, no whatever what is going on. Gary highlights that the only way Daniel could have done this, was by having a deep connection with his Heavenly Father.
It was amazing to see how Daniel’s deep connection to God, led to him being appointed as Vice President over the Medes/Persian kingdom. Gary Kent did a great job in highlighting Daniel’s faithfulness in a secular society and parallels it with our lives as followers of Jesus Christ.
Gary read several verses from chapter six. I would like to highlight verse 22.
My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”
What an amazing testimony! With our sinful natures and sin all around us, it is easy to give excuses for the bad decisions we make. Gary highlights, through scripture, that Daniel did not have that problem. And so, he experienced amazing things, due to his deep connection and faithfulness to God.
This last episode gives me hope that I can experience God on a deeper level. The prayer of commitment, at the end of the episode, was a powerful way to end the series - presenting ourselves to God, once more, with the desire to have a deeper relationship with Him.
I am reminded of Jesus’ prayer for all believers in John 17:20-26
20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. 24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. 26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
Amen
Episode six is based on chapter six in the Book of Daniel.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series and re-reading those powerful chapters of the Book of Daniel.
Wishing you God’s blessings as you read His Word and pray for a deeper connection with our Lord and Saviour. I also wish that you will be as blessed as I have been, by watching this series.
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time, peace be with you.
