If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled the understanding of what Jesus Christ did on the cross for you.
This week’s review is for the series, Christianity Explored. Episode: The Cross
Description
Christianity Explored is a ten-week course that introduces people to Christianity using the Gospel of Mark as its basis. Written by Rico Tice and Barry Cooper and originally run as a course at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London -- where it is still in use -- this widely-used course aims to introduce people to Jesus as they read the gospel of Mark -- who he is, why he came and what it means to follow him.
This episode is focused around our realization of the need for a Saviour in Jesus Christ.
Rico focuses on our human condition, Jesus’ decision to go to the cross (Mark 8:31, 10:45) and Jesus’ death on the cross (Mark 15:22-39). Rico also does a very good job at pointing us to some of the scripture verses that tell us the divine events that happened around Jesus’ death. These verses, conclude without a doubt that Jesus is the Son of God (Mark 15:34, 15:45 and Mark 15:37-38), amongst many other places in the Bible.
I really like how Rico makes an analogy between where we stand, compared to key people surrounding Jesus at his death. When you watch the episode, you can think about which person you are most like.
This episode contains reflection on the character of God, the righteous judgment of God and our characters. How do we measure up without Jesus mediating between us and God? Can we stand alone, in our own righteousness?
At the end of the episode, Rico asks a very good reflective question, that all should have answered, or answer today - there is no time to waste. I will let you hear that question for yourself.
This episode, The Cross, covers the most important question that mankind has to answer, and explains with scripture verses how we get to that question and why we need to be sure about our answer. This episode is a must see!
Thank you for reading this review. Until next time, peace be with you.
