If you are reading this review on the Sabbath, then I would like to wish you a Sabbath filled the hope we have in the Lord, who is just and worthy to be trusted and praised.
This week’s review is for the series, Christianity Explored. Episode: Sin
Description
Christianity Explored is a ten-week course that introduces people to Christianity using the Gospel of Mark as its basis. Written by Rico Tice and Barry Cooper and originally run as a course at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London -- where it is still in use -- this widely-used course aims to introduce people to Jesus as they read the gospel of Mark -- who he is, why he came and what it means to follow him.
This episode is focused around the reason Jesus came. Rico leads us through some analogies about how we would feel if everything we said, did and thought was exposed to the world. He asks a reflective question: Could you look people in the eye after they discovered everything about you?
Rico does a wonderful job of pointing to scripture that speaks of the nature of our heart and the relationship we were created to have with God.
He speaks of the countless warnings, Jesus is willing to give us and the result if we do not take heed to Jesus’ voice.
A thought crossed my mind by the end of the program. If everyone in the world had been like me from the start, what would the world look like in 2025? Remembering that sin is what we say, think and do, I know Jesus could show me that the world would be ugly in some way, shape or form, because I still have sin in my heart.
I am reminded of the song, What a Beautiful Name
You didn’t want heaven without us
So Jesus You brought heaven down
My sin was great. Your love was greater
What could separate us now
Sin, is a wonderful episode about man’s greatest problem and the One God chose to fix it, our Messiah - Jesus Christ.
